about

Originally written with the aforementioned alt country band in mind, this song has gone through more changes than anything else on this record. It's a little STP-ish now. It's looking for a little positivity in very difficult times.

lyrics

I live in a city
With a color divide
I’m here in the middle
Never thought about choosing sides

But the anger and frustration’s
Grown from a whisper to a shout
Now they show us on the TV
Trying to put the fires out

I’m holding on for better days
I’m holding out for better days
I’ll get down on my knees and pray
Somehow we all find better days

In the cities and the capitals
The flags are coming down
But all the while churches
Are still burning to the ground

We all have our differences
And that should be celebrated
But why are these the very things
That make some of us hated?

I’m holding on for better days...

Some don’t trust the police
Some don’t trust in wealth
Some don’t trust the government
And some don’t trust themselves

But if it’s up to you and me
To be the change we want to see
Let’s start a love revolution
Come on along with me

I’m holding on for better days…
